Sung Ah Cho

Studio 218 |

Artist Sung Ah Cho was born in Seoul, Korea in 1967 and she now lives and works in Vancouver, BC. Negotiating the boundaries between art and craft, Cho is interested in examining the nature of beauty, femininity, domesticity and craftsmanship. Her delicately painted porcelain pieces are often emotionally and psychologically charged as the artist herself. Her recent works, which depict the notion of womanʼs identity through hand-made ceramic dolls, contain an element of humour.

Cho earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Ewha Womanʼs University in Seoul, Korea and worked as a designer for stationary, magazines and a variety of books. Later, she attended the Meissen Porcelain Painting School in Germany in 2010. Cho currently holds a membership as an IPAT certified artist (International Porcelain Artists & Teachers Inc) and she regularly exhibits her works both in Canada and Korea.
