Special Features 2017
We were delighted to have several special features in 2016, including a mural collaboration: Parker Art Salon’s Ménage à Manet.
Parker Art Salon’s Ménage à Manet
based on Edouard Manet’s Le Déjeuner Sur L’Herbe (the Luncheon on the Grass), 1863
Le Déjeuner Sur L’Herbe sparked controversy and gained notoriety for its composition and painting style, which broke with the academic traditions of the time. It is now considered one of Manet’s early masterworks and a watershed painting marking the genesis of modern art and the transition from Realism to Impressionism.
In 2016, our version of this pivotal work merges panels and styles of 24 different participating Parker Art Salon artists to create a truly unique work of collaborative art. Manet drew inspiration for his composition from many old Masters, including Raphael, Giorgione, Titian and Velazquez. The Parker Art Salon’s Le Déjeuner Sur L’Herbe is a celebration of this artistic heritage and a tribute to Manet’s spirit of modernity.
